Rachel Bilson’s Summer Style

Rachel Bilson has style all of her own. She knows how to dress every single time, wherever she goes and I can’t say that I’ve seen her in anything horrible. She doesn’t do anything over the top, and she keeps it simple and feminine.

In this picture, (sorry its old ie 2007- but Ilove it) Rachel’s showing off her long legs with this fabulous summer outfit. A pair of tight not-so-short but still short shorts, a white tee, a long sweater over, and a cute pair of shoes with a little heel. Absolutely perfect, in my opinion, and it looks great on her.

These shorts are very easy to work with because they’re not super short, but they’re also not bermudas- they’re in between and that’s what makes them so versatile. Of course, if you’re not too proud of your legs don’t wear tight shorts like that, but instead try something more loose.

The sweater over the outfit gives it a simple, comfy, look. It also makes the outfit look wearable pretty much anywhere, unlike other celebrity outfits.

Her glasses look gorgeous on her, and I like that she added the shell necklace as an accessory, it goes very well with the whole look.rachel-bilson-legs.jpg

2011 Fall London Fashion Week: Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood can pretty much do whatever she wants these days, as her pieces are always amazing. This season, she chose to present at the Royal Courts of Justice, which is such a beautiful, grand location and provided the perfect contrasting backdrop for her rebellious designs.
She was inspired by Londoners and tried to incorporate elements of their lives. There was a very British feel with plenty of tartan and woolen pieces all in her signature asymmetric cut. Looks were layered up and teamed with big, messy hair. There were some crowns created with hair, adding to the chaotic feel. Louis Carroll's Through the Looking Glass was also cited as inspiration. I am not surprised that this surreal book appeals to Vivienne's eclectic style! She used a range of fabrics including wool, velvet, and cotton.
  • Trends: Heritage, statement outerwear, clashing prints.
  • Colours: Many, but red was key.
  • Accessories: Knee-high socks, elbow-length gloves, silk scarves.
  • Key look: Multicoloured feather jacket with sequined pencil skirt.
  • Who would wear this: Fans of Westwood, those who like interesting shapes.

Do You Wish More Beauty Brands Were Multicultural?

Estée Lauder has been in the forefront of the cosmetics industry for this long because they always find new ways to reinvent themselves and stay relevant. In December, we learnt thatPuerto Rican stunner Joan Smalls was joining their league of models alongside brunette and blue-eyed Hilary Rhoda, sometimes blonde, French-born Constance Jablonoski, and Asian, Liu Wen. The addition deemed popular with the masses, and has kept Lauder in line with all different skin tones, colouring and sends the positive message of multicultural beauty.
The brand is getting ready to launch new skin care products called Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator and Idealist Cooling Eye Illuminator due out in July. I've tried (and really like) both of the products as they help to even out your skin and also help de-puff your eyes. The ad campaign to support the launch will feature Constance, Liu and Joan. WWD interviewed Aerin Lauder about it. She said, "Estée Lauder always used to say that any woman can be beautiful, and she expressed that in many ways, including through advertising. This campaign is a modern interpretation of some of the most memorable ads Estée created over the years." Do you wish more brands paid glorified diversity?
