Love it, Wear it to Death

There’s no denying that Chloë Sevigny is a devoted fan of Chloé’s spring collection. So far this season, she’s worn the signature scallop blazer and shorts, in various incarnations, to four events (there could be more – I counted quickly). I’m all for wearing what you love to death. Reworking favorite pieces into your wardrobe over and over shows creativity, thriftiness, and a laissez-faire attitude towards fashion that many young starlets don’t get. Tell me, would you feel comfortable being photographed in the same/similar look multiple times? Which shorts-suit look do you think works best on Sevigny? Do you have an equivalent in your wardrobe- something you can’t stop yourself from wearing constantly?

Buttons to you - A quick tip

MOP Buttons? Of course I mean “Mother of Pearl”.

And I just love the look of them on shirts and blouses!

Unfortunately, unless you buy the thin decorative ones (usually found in a bulk bag near the regular buttons), they can be really expensive.

And the thin decorative ones usually don’t survive the washer and dryer.

Here’s a quick way to strengthen these thin but beautiful decorative buttons :

Using a liquid glue made to attach embellishments to fabric, coat the back side of the button, being careful to avoid filling in the holes. The glue will look “milky” when wet.

Let the glue-coated buttons dry overnight, or until the glue is clear and hard. Now your lovely Mother-of-Pearl buttons are ready to use…and will be able to survive the washing machine !

Coco Before Chanel Exclusive Trailer

We can’t wait for the U.S. release of Coco Before Chanel, Anne Fontaine’s much-anticipated biopic of iconic couturier Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. The film, which stars Audrey Tautou, doesn’t hit theaters till September 25th, but you can watch the trailer here.

Summer's Bold Bikinis Make Waves

The ruffle bikini made an appearance in Malibu and Miami this past weekend. 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord sported a hot-pink number, while Whitney Port showed off her enviably long and lean frame in a more subdued, ruffle-trim bikini. The style is said to flatter women with smaller busts, creating the illusion of a more voluptuous silhouette. The key to making this trend work is to keep the fluttery details to a minimum, à la Whitney. What do you think of this frilly trend in swimwear?
