Celebrity Children Among the Most Popular Spring Fashion Trendsetters in Tinseltown

For the latest fashion trends people often turn to celebrities for inspiration. But some of the best trendsetters in Hollywood are the children of celebrities, sporting the newest spring looks in smaller sizes.

“It’s fun to watch fashion trends among celebrity babies because their parents are usually clued into the latest styles,” said Sera Johanas, owner of Ella & Spencer, a popular online baby clothing boutique. “Beyond fashion it’s important to look for high-quality clothing that’s soft, comfortable and can handle an active baby.”

With spring in full force, here are five celebrity baby fashion trends to look for in the months ahead:

Graphic T-Shirts

Warmer days mean it’s time to put away heavy sweaters and make room for lightweight T-shirts. Fun designs and messages on T-shirts and onesies are a major trend in baby fashion this year. For example, the Pluto line of baby clothing incorporates pop culture with witty messages and designs. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s daughter Violet Affleck has been spotted wearing Pluto, which can be found at Ella & Spencer.

Stylish Shoes

Classic shoes from Converse in bright spring colors are making a comeback. The popular brand is now available in infant and toddler sizes. Mason Disick, son of Kourtney Kardashian, has been seen out and about in the latest from the iconic brand.

Bright Colors and Bold Prints

Alyson Hannigan’s daughter Satyana Denisof is often seen wearing bright colors and bold prints, a hot trend for the warmer months ahead. Mixing and matching stripes and playing with colors sets Denisof apart as one of the more stylish celebrity kids. The Pink Chicken line of clothing brings colorful spring style to soft cotton blends, keeping playtime stylish and comfortable.

Fun Accessories

Accessories are an important part of keeping up with the mini-fashionista status. Tights with colorful patterns are currently popular. They give a polished look while still keeping styles casual. Honor Warren, the daughter of Jessica Alba, and Nahla Aubry, the daughter of Halle Berry, have been seen playing up this look. In addition, stylishhair clips, hats and backpacks can take a look even further. Johanas said designers at Finn & Emma produce colorful hats, bibs, blankets and plush toys for boys and girls.

Dress It Up

Celebrity babies are no strangers to dressing up. The key is to keep clothing comfortable while still looking dapper. Shirtzie from Adam & Evan gives the button down look while keeping it in onesie form.

Orange Pants? Warming to Spring Fashion

Black is my favorite color. My go-to fashion staple. If I’m feeling adventurous, I might wear gray slacks or maybe something tan.

So last season, I was instinctively drawn to the fashion palette of muted mauves, silvery gray-blues and flesh-toned patent-leather shoes.

But spring has sprung my friends, and Woodbury fashionistas are throwing off fall’s Depression-era frump in favor of bold color!

Gen X-ers and their elders may collectively roll their eyes at these familiar and seemingly recycled 1980s-era trends. The boxy shapes of Flashdance tops and leggings. The Wayfarer sunglasses and skinny jeans (with stretch fabric and increasingly higher waists, thank goodness).

But it’s this season’s bright colors that bowl me over whenever I enter a women’s clothing store!

A friend recently tweeted, “Are we really doing the colored jeans thing?” I scoffed. It can’t possibly catch on. But then I went to dinner with someone sporting hot-pink jeans. So I guess we are really doing this. Well, at least she is. And maybe you are.

I’m not bold enough to try on, much less wear a pair of canary yellow pants. I just stand agog in The Gap wondering… Really?

Supposedly, this year’s top color is Tangerine Tango for everything from toss pillows to accent walls. I do like the color. But I’m not sure I can wear orange pants. And I’m really not sure how I feel about pink and orange together. That’s a thing. Trust me. It may damage your retinas if you stare at it too long.

Why are we doing this? Because we’re tired.

Tired of high unemployment rates. Tired of depressed housing markets. Tired of skyrocketing costs and pinching pennies. We want joy, courage, optimism and color! And one just can’t help but smile when seeing somebody in orange pants!

So I encourage you to participate in this trend because it makes me smile.

As for me, I still can’t picture myself strutting through the grocery aisles in a pair of vermilion jeans. If you can’t either, there are other ways, subtler ways, for us dreary sophisticates to join this fun fray.

Fashion magazine Marie Claire recommends experimenting with a pop of color. This means accessorize! Opt for a single piece in one of this season’s bright hues. A bright pink scarf, an orange beaded bracelet, a sunny yellow handbag, red shoes! (Just not all at once—unless you’re also wearing a lapel flower pin that squirts water and a nose that honks when pinched.)

Still unconvinced? Try dialing the trend all the way down to a few bucks invested in nail color or lipstick. I recently snagged a tube of Revlon Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti. But I draw the line at orange eye shadow. Get carried away and you’ll cross over from fun fashionista to obsessive Hunger Games capital fan; going from wanting to feel sunny to believing everything is sunny.

So until the economy truly rebounds, smile and you’ll feel like smiling and do a happy dance in your new orange pants!

STYLE ICON: ASHLEY OLSEN

Declaring Ashley Olsen as a style icon is pretty obvious, it's like ehhr... stating Ryan Gosling is kinda smoking hot (and so is my old flame Josh Hartnett by the way. Hi there.) Still, I'm kicking in this open door because Ashley has some serious fashion cred - The Row or Elizabeth and James obsessed, anyone? - and her style has been top of the bill for years. One of the girls I'd trade wardrobes with in a heartbeat. Do you feel the same way?

Katy Perry’s Fashion Icons?

Katy Perry False Lashes

Katy Perry‘s sartorial selections run the gamut from the sublime to theslimed — and the singer likes it that way, thank you very much.

“I don’t like to take fashion too seriously,” she tells Teen Vogue. “I love it, and I am so grateful when big brands want to associate with me, but mostly I just want to take chances and have fun and truly live. Sometimes that means wearing some ridiculous, cat-inspired outfit rather than whatever happens to be in this season.”

Calling Agyness Deyn, Chloë Sevigny, Daphne Guinness, Natalie Wood, Judy Jetson and Wonder Woman her fashion icons, Perry says she singles them out for their personal style and strength. “They have the ability to adapt and evolve and change,” she shares. “Like, I’m still doing the pinup thing, but now when I do it, I want to be the pinup of the future, like Rachael in Blade Runner.”

There’s a reason for her eclectic sense of style, too; one that stems from childhood. “When I was 9 years old, my father used to wake me up at seven every Saturday morning to take me to garage sales,” Perry explains. “I couldn’t afford the clothes that the other girls at school were wearing, so instead I looked for things that were unique to me.”

And if she got teased? Not a big deal. “I stopped focusing on what other people think a while ago,” Perry admits. “If you try to be everything to everyone, you’ll only end up completely confused.” Tell us: Who are your fashion icons?

Nails get crazy on the catwalk

1 of 15
Models at the David Koma for winter 2012 and Alexander McQueen shows had distressed silver nails, and at Jen Kao designs similar to paua shells adorned false nails, with metal-dipped tips.Nails are going crazy this season with stick-ons, wild colours and nail art all hitting the mainstream.

Try the dip-tip look at home with the technique used at Thakoon and Parkchoonmoo - sweep colour onto the nail tip and leave the rest nude.

At Vivienne Westwood doodling was big: models stalked the catwalk with doodles painted on their arms, hands and nails.

And if you're feeling fierce, rock it like The Blonds - add diamantes or small blobs of colour down your nail bed and let them dry into a ridge of ferocious raised horns.

Charming fashion trend: Tips for creating a unique gift

(ARA) - Charm bracelets are more popular than ever, gracing the pages of glossy fashion magazines and adorning the arms of women of all ages, yet charm bracelets are much more than a hot trend. The charm bracelet has a long history that makes it a timeless piece of jewelry and each woman's charm collection is an expression of her personal style and her unique story.

"Charms and bracelets are popular year after year for so many reasons. Not only it is a beautiful accessory, it's one that will be cherished forever because the charms represent special people and unforgettable moments," says Cristina Ehrlich, who was most recently named as one of the 25 Most Powerful Stylists in Hollywood by The Hollywood Reporter and Jimmy Choo. "Collecting charms can become a cherished tradition and a wonderful way to celebrate a woman's life."

Ehrlich offers these tips for creating an unforgettable charm bracelet for yourself or the special women in your life:

* Create balance
Charms and bracelets look best when they are grouped in odd numbers, such as three, five or seven, which helps create balance. This is something to keep in mind when buying charms for yourself or someone else. Ehrlich suggests wearing an odd number of charm bracelets or layering them with other bracelets or bangles to achieve the same effect.

* Celebrate what's close to your heart
Build a bracelet with charms for each of the important aspects of your life - significant others, children, pets, etc. You might also consider selecting charms that have a personal meaning as a way to honor favorite memories such as graduations, vacations or anniversaries. "I have started charm bracelets for some of my dearest friends," says Ehrlich. "It's a beautiful way to celebrate a friendship and commemorate special moments over the years."

* Add a splash of color
Many sterling silver and 14K gold charms are available with colorful accents. Popular options include smoked quartz, bright enamels, pink sapphire, colorful cubic zirconia or Murano glass. "The same color does not need to be used throughout the entire bracelet," Ehrlich adds. "But keeping your choices in the same color palette maximizes the aesthetic appeal."

* Don't be afraid to mix it up
Add a little variety by mixing in two-tone charms or charms with different finishes such as oxidized sterling silver or black rhodium. "Consider wearing a pendant as a charm," suggests Ehrlich. "It's a great way to add an extra eye-catching piece without losing space on the bracelet."

* Start a new tradition
Let friends and family know that you are buying someone a charm bracelet so everyone can select a charm, or buy yourself a new charm to commemorate a special trip or achievement. Adding to your charm bracelet regularly keeps it fresh and exciting. Pandora Jewelry offers hundreds of charms to suit every style, occasion and budget, with charms starting at $25.

For additional guidance, Ehrlich recommends using the PANDORA Gift Advisor, an online application that asks simple questions and makes charm recommendations based on your answers. She adds, "Whether you're creating one for yourself or want to give one as a special gift, a charm bracelet is a jewelry piece that will be cherished for a lifetime."
